Long Distance Relationships and Christmas

admire people who are in a long distance relationships, i know its not easy
and the risk is way too high

but still they bravely trust that what is communicated on line and by phone is what it really is
they wait for the opportune time that the time difference would cross the gap wherein two people are still awake
and sane even just to talk about mundane things
they endure the pain of seeing each other and yet not exactly being together
they compose their words well in order to capture what an eyewitness would see
so many pictures would be taken, posted and captioned hoping that they can freeze time as well as the emotion.
They are indeed brave souls, persistent and patient, which a normal onlooker would consider foolishness
Having friends and family abroad and in different nations, i did have a glimpse of this
Mind you I’m not a good long distance friend, my close friends can attest to that
but I seek to improve on this area, it just take a lot of work for now-bear with me 🙂
But one thing i learned or something that God emphasised to me was this simple phrase

“Jesus bridge the gap”
If we can capture  on video every OFW 1st time reunions with their family on airport or loved ones and couples overseas who saw each other for the first time-its epic and priceless.
But likewise that is what Jesus did only multiply it an infinite times over
Jesus bridge the gap-the gazillion distance we have between us and God
He literally stepped out of the Skype monitor and became Love made tangible and personified
He ate with us, shared stories, laughter and all our pain magnified
He literally invaded our culture, not to get to know us but so that we can get to know Him
so that we can be sure He was for real, and not just a fiction in our imagination,
not just a great story we share to feel good  nor a character in our every day fantasy.
Jesus bridge the gap…..
He came here and sealed the deal, not just for a week or a month long experience
of how great His love is not even just for a lifetime but for eternity.
A thousand years is not enough for Him, everlasting love is what He has to offer
not just for me but to anyone willing to accept it.
Jesus bridge the gap…..
by patiently enduring the cross and all the filth we have experienced a hundredfold
by transcending death and showing us resurrection
by giving us the Holy Spirit, God’s presence made known and given to all
So that in Him we will never, ever be separated from God, never ever will be alone
never ever yearn or long for something beyond us
Jesus bridge the gap when He was born:
“Today in the town of David a Savior has been born to you; he is Christ the Lord.” Luke 2:11 (NIV)
“For to us a child is born, to us a son is given; and the government shall be upon his shoulder,
and his name shall be called Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace.”
Isaiah 9:6 ESV
indeed a Merry CHRISTmas for all!
